Machines vs Free Weights

A common myth in bodybuilding is that the more machines that a person utilizes the more they will notice muscle growth. After all, the infomercials on television point to this fully sculpted bodies that used these advanced machines. However, this is not really true. Those that have been in the bodybuilding industry state that those who use only machines and never implement any free weights into the exercise routine are not seeing the results that they wish that they had. The reason is that the body is designed to work only with these machines.

The problem is that these machines are designed to use the weight that is on these machines allowing for the person to use a pulley or some other mechanism in order to move the weights. They are not really getting the bulk of the weight, which means that they are not doing half the work that they think they are. For example, doing one squat with bar bells is much more efficient (but be aware of nitric oxide supplements side effects) than doing five or six leg extensions on the machine. The human body is the best way to get the resistance that a person needs to make their muscles more defined. Thus, for those that are trying to get into the bodybuilding industry, steer clear of the weights that are offered on machines.
