The story begins in August, with a 9-year-old boy who was in a local restaurant eating with his family. A couple from Washington state, vacationing in the Black Hills, were seated nearby.

As they ate and talked, the visiting couple couldn’t help but notice that the young boy at the neighboring table was having    trouble eating his food. His pronounced overbite made an otherwise easy task very difficult.

And so, after they were done eating, the couple approached the boy’s parents. They explained they had watched the boy struggle with his meal.

Then they made a fantastic offer.

The couple told the boy’s parents they would be happy to pay for the boy to see an orthodontist to fix the problem.
